Schools have multiple ways to measure student learning with standardized testing being just one of them. While taking standardized tests is not required for graduation, they are the most accurate tools available to measure whether your child is mastering key skills. Thank you for your continued support of Primavera.

The statewide assessment for ELA and math has been renamed to, AzM2. The Arizona Department of Education has eliminated the AzMERIT tests and the high school AzMERIT end of course assessments. There will be no Fall or Summer administration of AzM2.

ADE has developed a single grade high school assessment for both ELA and Mathematics that will be administered to students in Grade 10 (Cohort 2022). The high school ELA assessment will not change because the ELA 10 EOC test assessed grade 10 content and standards. The final distribution of the content assessed on the AzM2 high school math assessment will be 60% Algebra I and 40% Geometry content.

AzM2 measures students’ knowledge in the content areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics.

Who Takes the AzM2 Test at Primavera?

Students in grades 3-8 and grade 10 (Cohort 2022) must be tested in Spring 2020. All students will participate in their grade level ELA and math assessments only. Therefor all eligible Primavera high school and middle school students are required to take the AzM2 tests. The times during which students are required to test will vary according to courses enrolled in each term.

AzM2 FAQ’s

When the writing and reading tests are scored, the Arizona Department of Education will send Primavera one score: the English Language Arts (ELA) score. The ELA score will include both the writing and reading AzM2 test results, so it is very important to attempt both AzM2 tests in order to receive a complete ELA score. If only one test is attempted, there will be no score and the test will be marked as incomplete.

Yes, the student will take the assessment if he/she is eligible to test and must take the test with us if student is enrolled with Primavera.

The AzM2 is NOT a requirement for graduation. While taking the assessment is not required for graduation, the tests are the most accurate tools available to measure whether your child is mastering key skills.

Because AzM2 and AIMS tests must be taken in person, Primavera administers them at various locations and times throughout the state.
