Standardized Testing

AzMERIT (Arizona’s Measurement of Educational Readiness to Inform Teaching) measures students’ knowledge in the content areas of English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics in Grades 3-8 and High School. Each AzMERIT test is aligned to Arizona’s College and Career Ready Standards (AZCCRS).

  • Arizona public school students in Grade 3 and above will participate in AzMERIT testing.
  • AzMERIT is available as a computer-based test or as a paper-based test. For the test administration of AzMERIT, schools with sufficient bandwidth and the appropriate devices to support computer-based testing were able to select computer-based testing.
  • Primavera Online has switched to computer-based option to administer the AzMERIT test. We will have a variety of testing locations statewide.

Who Will Take the AzMERIT Test at Primavera?

All Primavera Online Middle School students grades 6–8 will take the AzMERIT test at the designated testing time periods in the Spring. All Primavera Online High School students grades 9–12 are also required to take the AzMERIT tests in the Fall and Spring. The times during which students are required to test will vary according to courses enrolled in each block (see below for more details).

Primavera Online High School AzMERIT End-of-Course Testing

If you were enrolled or are currently enrolled in any of the qualifying high school End-of-Course (EOC) classes, you will be taking the corresponding AzMERIT EOC test. AzMERIT EOC tests revolve around the second semester of the high school EOC courses, not the first semester. Here is a breakdown of high school EOC tests and their corresponding AzMERIT EOC equivalent.

High School End-of-Course: = AzMERIT End-of-Course test:
English 9B = ELA Writing and Reading 9
English 10B = ELA Writing and Reading 10
English 11B = ELA Writing and Reading 11
Algebra 1B = Algebra 1
Geometry B = Geometry
Algebra 2B or Algebra 2B Concepts = Algebra 2

*The AzMERIT EOC English Language Arts tests are divided into two parts: a writing test and a reading test.

AIMS Science

AIMS Science is a Standards Based Assessment that measures student proficiency of the Arizona Academic Content Standard in Science. It meets federal requirements for student assessment. It is administered in the spring to Primavera students in Grades 8 & 10 and high school. Students in 9th grade who are enrolled in a life science course at the high school level may participate in the Spring administration of AIMS HS Science.

Primavera Online will be administering AIMS Science Spring 2017 at various testing locations.

FAQs

What is the ELA Score? When the writing and reading tests are scored, the Arizona Department of Education will send Primavera one score: the English Language Arts (ELA) score. The ELA score will include both the writing and reading AzMERIT test results, so it is very important to attempt both AzMERIT tests in order to receive a complete ELA score. If only one test is attempted, there will be no score and the test will be marked as incomplete.

Which EOC tests will the student take if he/she was enrolled in English 12B and Geometry B in the C4 block? Student is eligible for EOC Geometry.

Which EOC tests will the student take if he/she was enrolled in English 9B, English 10B and Algebra 1B in the A4 and A5 block, and currently taking Algebra 2A? Student is eligible for EOC ELA 9, ELA 10, and Algebra 1.
