The Primavera Blended Learning Center will be offering a new course called “IT Essentials” specific for students in grades 11-12th.
This 18-week course will teach about the fundamentals of computer hardware and software concepts along with other topics such as security and networking. It will also go over the basic responsibilities of an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) professional to help meet the growing demand for these entry-level positions.
IT Essentials is a face-to-face course that will use Cisco Packet Tracer simulation-based learning activities to promote the exploration of network security concepts while allowing students to experiment with network behavior. The course will feature hands-on labs and interactive learning tools to help students develop critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills.
Students who complete this course will be able to describe the internal components of a computer, assemble a computer system, install an operating system and troubleshoot using tools and diagnostic software. Upon completion of the course, students will also be able to take the Cisco certification exam to earn their certificate, which could allow quicker access to employment in the tech field.
The Cisco Academy course will be at our Primavera Blended Learning Center located at 2451 N. Arizona Ave., Chandler, Arizona and are free of charge for Primavera students. Other students are encouraged to sign up and take the course for a fee.
