Primavera takes pride in the experience and talent of our faculty, and the strength provided by our administration. Please taken a moment to read the biographies of our school leaders below.
Greetings Primavera parents and students,
I personally want to welcome you to the Primavera family. As the Superintendent of Primavera, I am responsible for ensuring that our students receive the best possible education. I am not only committed to helping our students earn their high school diploma, but also preparing them for college and a career.
My journey in education began at BYU where I earned a B.A in French and English, during which time I had the opportunity to study at Université de Paris, La Sorbonne in Paris, France. This experience deepened my passion for language and culture, and ultimately inspired me to choose teaching as my profession. Over the last 25 years I have served as a classroom teacher, principal, assistant superintendent, and most recently as the Director of Professional Development at Grand Canyon University. I feel blessed and honored to serve students and adults
Over the years I have earned an M.A. in Curriculum and Instruction, an M.Ed in Leadership and Supervision and am currently earning my PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology. My drive through all these experiences has been a deep commitment for life-long learning and student academic achievement. I truly believe in what we do to help our students here at Primavera, and I see an amazing opportunity to shape the face of education in Arizona.
My experience in education includes 20 years of public education as a teacher and administrator. I have a BA in Secondary Education from Arizona State University; an MA in Secondary Education from Northern Arizona University; a Principal Certificate from Arizona State University and a Superintendent Certificate from Northern University as well. Currently, I have completed all course work for my doctorate (in Educational Leadership) from Northern Arizona University. My doctorate is pending dissertation defense.
I have worked with several universities and colleges, placing interns and student teachers for the past five years. In addition, I have collaboratively worked with numerous teachers and district personnel to review school and district data in order to enhance instruction through Professional Learning Communities and the creation of data rooms for weekly manipulation of student growth and instructional planning. My leadership focus has been in data analysis, teacher evaluation (New Evaluation System), Common Core Initiative (restructure and alignment), and high interests in technology use in the classroom (highly engaging classrooms).
As a teacher, I have taught 7-12th grade math and science courses in Arizona’s Easy Valley districts. My administration for the past six years has been in a fast growing, progressive district, which included turning a K-8th school to Excelling, the highest rank a school can earn, in three years.
Hello Primavera Families and soon to be family members! I am excited about education and equally as excited about the powerful opportunities at Primavera. As I work alongside educators and staff that are dedicated to bringing the best out of students, I can see the passion for the power of education throughout the school.
As an educator I have worked in leadership for the majority of my career, but have also spent time as a social studies and humanities teacher. I attended Butler University (Go Bulldogs) as an undergraduate, Trinity Christian College to obtain my teaching certificate, Indiana University for my graduate degree and I am currently attending the University of Phoenix for a doctoral degree in educational leadership.
In my personal efforts to run away from snow, my family and I moved from the Midwest (Indiana) and made Arizona our home about five years ago. As a father of two boys and a husband, I am amazed at what education has done for me over my life. As a onetime “at risk” kid growing up in Chicago, Illinois, to now being in a place where I not only have the opportunity to provide for my family, but also have palm trees in my back yard, I am simply amazed. I understand the power that education holds and what a powerful education offers each student.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to your student’s success.
